Pete Jamerson

Tyson Facilities Manager

Pete worked in WashU Communication Services for nine years before starting at Tyson full-time in 2007.

Have things changed since you first started working here?

“Tremendously. The entire infrastructure has been updated since I've been here. The water system and front gate motors are completely new. We're on a fiber optic network now; back then we were on dial-up modem type networks. We've expanded. We've got a new lab, the Living Learning Center was not here, so yeah, it's come a long way.”

Are there differences in challenges that you had with your job on campus versus here at Tyson?

“What I did on campus was much different. In Communication Services we did the card entry systems, the network and the phone systems. We did the Presidential debates, the Vice-Presidential debates, Steve Fosset's mission controls. A lot of that has helped me here. When the network goes down, I know what to do.”

What is something enjoyable that you get to do here?

“See nature every day. Coming in and seeing just the sheer beauty of Tyson in itself. Getting to work in an environment like this is hard to pass up. I wouldn't change anything as far as my choice to going from communications back into a maintenance and construction background. I still get to dabble in the communication side of things. I'm getting the best of both worlds, I guess you could say. I really enjoy it.”
