High School Apprentice

“It’s pretty cool getting this opportunity fresh out of high school. But with that, it's a lot too. A lot of these people on my team already have college degrees, so I kind of have to catch up to them. But everyone's really helpful anytime I ask a question, so that's nice.”

Has the experience been what you expected?

“There's a lot more ticks than I expected. That's for sure.”

Have you always been interested in ecology and the environment?

“I have. I've been a hardcore tree hugger since I was little and I always loved being outside. Freshman year, my school flooded. Then my sophomore year it flooded again, but even worse. So then I really got into it. And then, even beyond just my town, I started looking at the other problems facing St. Louis too—and facing the world. I realized I needed to do something.”
