Plant Disease

The Plant Disease team investigates the nature of host-parasite interactions by using weedy plants in the Plantago genus as a model organism. This summer, the team is involved in two remote projects. The first project involves collecting data from thousands of images of small field plots that were photographed along an urbanization gradient in St. Louis. The second project involves collecting data from thousands of photographs of individual plants in the iNaturalist app to study how plants and the things that eat them (herbivores and pathogens) vary around the world and through the seasons.
